One of the most common pieces of customer feedback I hear from InfoSystems customers is how much they value the time they spend with our vCIO, Aaron Swann (a major reason I love having him on our podcasts). In this episode of IT Coach for Business Leaders, a podcast series from InfoSystems, we discuss some of the specific ways in which our vCIOs engage with our customers, and how the vCIO relationship can alleviate many IT-related human resources issues. Aaron shares a story of how a customer was negatively impacted by employee turnover in their IT Director role, which led to a change in the way they worked with InfoSystems by utilizing our vCIO services.
One of the most valuable things that InfoSystems brings to the table to benefit our customers is our people. From the very beginning of InfoSystems, the company owner, Clay Hales, and the leadership team around him decided that having highly trained, skilled, and certified technical resources would be fundamental to the success of the company. They were right in that assessment. To this day, InfoSystems maintains a bench of skilled professional IT engineers and technicians who are specialized in certain areas of the business technology stack.
This is great for small and mid-sized businesses who couldn't possibly afford to operate an IT staff full of specialized skills. InfoSystems gives these companies access to the right skill set for just the amount of time they are needed - no more, no less.
One specific IT role that many small and mid-sized businesses can't afford to support on their payroll is that of a Chief Information Officer. The CIO is the most senior IT-related position, usually reporting to the CEO (and in some cases the CFO), and is responsible for ensuring a company's technology will support executive vision and goals. It is a common scenario for companies to only employ a single IT position such as an IT Administrator or IT Manager, or for companies to have an IT Director with a few IT Administrators. In almost all of these cases, the IT personnel are technically skilled but lack the business acumen to be a strategic part of the executive leadership team. A CIO is typically the missing link between executive leadership and the IT department.
